REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Mary Dru Bowman 4/23/2020 6:58 PMI walked to the beach to pick up trash and look for treasures. The water was calm and beautiful and to my amazement - clean as it could be. I wanted to do something nice for the planet but instead it did something nice for me. People were able to be around other people, within guidelines, and outside communing with nature. I am deeply grateful for the day. -
Mary Dru Bowman 4/05/2020 10:22 AMEvery trip across the causeways I see random plastic bits and flying bags. This trip the bags (3) were huge and there was a large plastic bin lid along with styro cups and other things. It was bad enough that because of this challenge, I was obligated to turn around and go back to pick it up. I could have spent hours just in that small section but I was at least able to get rid of the most egregious. This challenge is a wonderful way to remind me, everyday, that my actions have consequences.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Eco-friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Mary Dru Bowman 3/16/2020 7:07 AMWe have many water concerns in Florida. Plastic pollution of our oceans is what I see most. The insidious depletion of our natural springs for personal, single use, plastic bottled water is on my front burner today. In our immediate area, the restoring the health of our Indian River Lagoon is an ongoing, collaborative effort. Living on a low lying barrier island, we are concerned about rising ocean levels and the salination of ground waters.-
Marcia Booth 3/27/2020 12:08 PMI agree. So many water issues we face here in Florida... chemicals and debris going in our water and we have not much (if any!) control over... We must stay positive, though, and do our share - it all counts. Good "seeing" you here :-)
