People
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 15 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Oceans
Smart Seafood Choices
I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.
Forests
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area while following CDC guidelines for social distancing.
Wildlife
Taking Care of Plants
Attend a webinar to learn how to prune and maintenance your plants to be healthy. I want to learn about the different type of plants that thrive in our environment and how to care for them. I live on 5 acres and I need to transplant some trees/shrubs due to placement was incorrect and I want to learn how to do this properly to keep them alive and healthy.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Participant Feed

REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Michele Cooper 4/30/2020 11:20 AMWhen I am inside I am focus minded and busy with tasks. When I am outdoors I tend to relax more and seem to enjoy myself more because there are more things to look at, and listen to. Of course, I get ideas of what needs to be done outside, which then focuses my attention back to my sewing projects and putting puzzles together. -
Michele Cooper 4/30/2020 11:09 AMNeed to create more challenges/goals on what I want to learn to be able to landscape and care for my plants and trees that benefits the environment. -

Michele Cooper 4/30/2020 11:01 AMBeing one with nature, and getting some fresh air. We live on 5 acres, so I should enjoy it more as it might be relaxing just listening to the birds, and encourage me to work on the garden more. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Michele Cooper 4/30/2020 11:00 AMI did not realize that there was a limit to eating 2 meals a day of large and smallmouth bass. I don't fish as much as I used to, but I will definitely share this with my son who still does! -
Michele Cooper 4/29/2020 2:38 PMAttended the "Create a Healthy, Worry-Free Garden" virtual meeting and received a lot of good information about pruning different type of shrubs and trees in our yard, -

Michele Cooper 4/29/2020 12:58 PMWe use scraps of fabric from our quilting projects to repurpose them into scrap quilts, and/or use them for making dog beds for local shelters. We try not to waste any materials in the quilt group. We actually save them until we find something to do with them! -
Michele Cooper 4/29/2020 12:27 PMSince grocery stores aren't allowing "your own bags" during the pandemic, we use the self-checkout so we can still use our own bags. Still don't want to bring home the plastic homes for anything! -
