How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

For me, it reminds me that there is always more to discover. It helps me connect with the earth through my senses (smell, see, touch) and appreciate the desert so much more. Outdoors time is very important to me because it helps me unwind and recharge from the draining aspects of life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

This definitely rings true for me! I need to have time outside in nature in order to feel "reset." I'm afraid that the value put on the natural world is fading and the younger generations do not know how important it is.

What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

If people xeriscaped more often in Arizona, we would have a lot more water conservation. In the desert, it is so important to conserve water. There should be stricter enforcement on broken sprinklers/desert friendly plants.
