I can't believe how much of our garbage used to contain food scraps!!!  We dumped a full bucket of potato peels, strawberry tops, rotting lettuce coffee grounds, eggshells and other food waste into our compost bin last nite.  My SON did it - he won't let me do it - he is so proud to do it!  Bonus - our garbage doesn't stink nearly as much and it takes us much longer to fill up the garbage.  Now if this snow would stop and the sun would come out, we could get to making our garden so we can put some of that compost to use!!!!

    Food Compost Food Waste
New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?

I think given everything that is going on, we've been more mindful of not wasting food anyways, as I severely cut down on my trips to the market.  This also causes us not to have as easy access to fresh vegetables and fruit, so we are going to start growing our own, and will use the compost for that!

Pierson and I like our neighborhood to look neat and clean, and we know litter can harm wildlife and even our pets.
