Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Kaitlin Koenig 4/26/2020 5:29 PM
Knowing the difference in the dates empowers me to question (within reason) whether food is bad beyond the expiration date.Understanding that dates can be intended for the grocer instead of the consumer makes a huge difference. For the longest time, I thought the sell by date equated to use by and would often avoid buying product on or near its sell by date. Looking back, that misconception may have inadvertently contributed to more waste.

How can you encourage biodiversity by your own actions?

    Kaitlin Koenig's avatar
    Kaitlin Koenig 4/22/2020 4:47 PM
Environmental advocacy in our communities informs us of things that directly impact us. It is great to know what is going on around the world, but it is extremely important to know the issues and challenges we are facing locally.

    Forests Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

Personally, I feel like there is something amazing about trees. I credit the Disney film, Pocahontas, for that as I imagine trees as a Grandmother WIllow. It is incredible to think about all the things they have seen and lived through, all of the storms they have weathered. Spiritually, I would love to be as strong as a tree. It takes a labor of love to plant a tree and the mental fortitude to nurture it's growth.
