REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Jessica Maldonado 4/30/2020 10:33 AMI would say the biggest thing that stands in my way of making this a habit is convenience. It really does not take much more time or effort to use a reusable mug or water bottle. Even though it may be convenient to just grab a water bottle from the fridge it helps to know that by choosing to use a reusable bottle or mug I am being part of the solution and not adding to the problem. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Jessica Maldonado 4/28/2020 12:18 PMConnecting with family and friends has helped me keep a positive attitude and outlook on what is happening. Getting to laugh with my family and friends over video chat, text, or a phone call always boost my spirits. My little sister had her first child and I have not been able to meet him yet and that has been hard for me but especially for my sister. I video call her everyday to check in on her and the baby so she knows even though I can't be there physically I am here for her and I love her and baby Dominic very much. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Smart Seafood ChoicesMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Jessica Maldonado 4/27/2020 11:54 AMI am not a big seafood eater but I do love to eat it and when I do I never ask or check where it came from. After looking at the seafoodwatch.org website I realize how important it is to know where your food is coming from. The website has given me a few good tips and tricks on how I can easily look into the seafood I like and want to eat. -
Jessica Maldonado 4/24/2020 1:51 PMI've been opening all the blinds in the house to use the natural light instead of turning on lights. It is not only eco friendly but it is saving me money. :)
According to NSTAR, 29% of energy use in non-residential buildings is used for lighting. If you turn off the lights whenever you leave a room, you can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 0.15 pounds per hour.
