REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Ximena Olivares 3/26/2020 7:07 AMWikipedia calls it "Nature Deficit Disorder" - the idea that human beings are spending less time outdoors which results in a wide range of health and behavioral problems. It also disconnects us from our humanness and leads us to care less about the world we live in. In rare occasions, like this COVID-19 pandemic, we do help society by staying indoors, but the struggles we are all facing to socially distance should remind us about the importance of being outside, and not just from our homes, but our offices, factories, and gyms too.
