Wildlife
Leave No Trace
I will respect and protect biotic communities by practicing the seven principles of Leave No Trace when doing nature activities alone or with family and friends.
Forests
Forest-Friendly Foods
I will replace or remove the palm oil, coffee, and cocoa products in my current diet that are known to contribute to deforestation.
Climate
Stay on the Ground
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Climate
Use Muscle Power
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Food
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Oceans
Learn about Our Oceans
I will spend at least 15 minutes learning about how our oceans support life on Earth by producing oxygen, regulating climate, and providing habitat, food, and jobs.
People
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 3 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/02/2020 9:41 AMI thin human waste should be more worked on just because they gave alot of reasons on how people leave bottles, food, toilet paper or even more worse things in the ground, rocks and etc . No matter if they put signs , people still won’t listen but if they take more action in some other form I think it will fix some ecological problems. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Forest-Friendly FoodsHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/02/2020 9:10 AMIt was pretty easy just because I work out a lot so cutting off these really helped my diet to even be more healthier as well as losing more weight faster but also helping the environment as well made me feel better about this . -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/01/2020 11:55 AMMy process wasn’t easy since we needed to find a different transportation which also changes some things around by how we going to get their and etc but we find solutions all the time so it wasn’t that bad restructuring it . I would avoid more air travel in the future by taking a bus or driving to the location . -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/01/2020 11:43 AMIt affects my community because since everyone even myself uses cars to get to places, we usually don’t see the risks on how much gas we are spending which we can even be saving money as well as sometimes the car smells can be dangerous for our health and even makes our temperatures rise which can cause alot of problems to us since it’s trapping heat and a lot of global warning problems . My experience doesn’t differ because I think they are all equal the same maybe not 100% but I wouldn’t mind walking or doing any other transportation if I can’t drive or if can I wouldn’t mind a change . -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/01/2020 11:25 AMI notice that my family and I throw away alot of food specially since we are a bigger family , alot people sometimes doesn’t eat alot or they don’t want that so the food doesn’t become good to eat no more so we throw it all away which is bad because it becomes more than it really was. I will use compost once it is ready by sometimes reusing things that aren’t food or putting it in my garden since it can be reduce and even by doing that can help the things grow around it or even animals that need food or just not making it so toxic by throwing so much and just cooking less . -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Learn about Our OceansWhat is one way in which oceans support your life on Earth? What is one way you can help take care of ocean health with your actions?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/01/2020 11:15 AMOne way ocean support my life on earth is by giving me food like fish or any other animal to eat for survival and healthy lifestyle since it’s healthy as well as having water being used for our supplies and even the things we need . One way I can help the ocean with my actions is by not wasting so much food or things I have too much off and recycling because it does hurt other species that actually live in the ocean by that. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/01/2020 11:02 AM- It helps my own mental and emotional health by making me more open and not isolating myself from the world but to also reach out when I’m not okay. It can help support others by letting them know their not alone and even motivate them to do things and just be heard and a good laugh if they need one and just company .

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Water-Friendly Beauty ProductsBeyond what does or doesn't come out of the tap at home, how do your choices affect freshwater locally and globally?
Jocelyn Rodriguez 4/01/2020 10:52 AMMy choices affect freshwater locally is by wasting water at home while showering too long or using it in other activities and globally is by not recycling or just taking advantage what we have from it and using it to which makes it dirty or hurting other animals .
