Holly Windom 4/30/2020 8:42 AMWell, I think this is so long for a while. I've enjoyed the focus on my chosen goals and only completely failed at one of them this time! That's an improvement for me. i think I checked in most week days (could do better on weekends). But most of all I showed my self I still care. I'm still willing to make an effort for the earth, world and me. I thank God for my health, wealth and wisdom to know I'm a small part of a bigger picture. Everyone continue to do you part. -
Holly Windom 4/28/2020 11:00 AMWell I did it due to I need improvement, Encouragement, and tools to get active! Being the same way will get me the same result. No growth in my life leads to death in my spirit, my emotions, and my environment. Usually, as a people we watch others. Not a bad thing for sometimes its like watching TV. You love, live, laugh, cry, thru them and never leave your couch. This effort makes you accountable for change. If changing the world is to much for you. Start with you and that may change others. I invited my department (25) to join this effort. Two of them joined and I got about 5 likes (the thumbs up) emailed. Maybe they have a heavy workload, maybe they not ready to commit and sadly maybe some people do not realize this is as important !Awareness is really important! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Local Climate IssuesIn what ways is your local community resilient to shock events like we’ve experienced recently? How could you help it become more resilient?
Holly Windom 4/27/2020 6:30 AMBy obeying the stay home and working out the grocery shopping and wearing mask! We have made a change that may have been needed. Raising out own kids, Raking our own yards, Teaching our family to be together and be play together. We been soft on our selves and out family for way to long. Our ancestors did everything the hard way mean no luxuries we still have water, heat and shelter. I can pray more and find ways to support some else to not focus on me and my issues as much. Funny thing is of maybe sad it took this virus for the world to see that we need each other no matter the skin color or the financial status. Lets keep it going. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Holly Windom 4/24/2020 1:16 PMMy church as a food bank( Metropolitan Baptist Church in Detroit). We provide 3 bags of uncooked food with Gleaners support every third Saturday free to zip code 48238, 48206,48203 we raise money thru Givelify and from our membership. We are very careful using proper distancing mask and gloves. This is a food desert in Detroit, MI. I eat every day and know the important of kids eating to support their learning. Truly makes my day to see people so happy to know that will be eating for about 5 days from everything provided. When you see that you are helping is the greatest feeling ever. Building friendships supporting normal needs of people enhances my life to do as much as I'm able as often as i can. Call 211 in your zip code and see where the local food bank is in your area. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Holly Windom 4/22/2020 10:27 AMWell I'm a outside person. this time indoors has been tough on me. i go out and stand on the porch. I walk down my condo driveway (passed 4 houses ) to the mailed box and I know nothing is coming. The peace and calm is brings me is hard to relate on words. Inside can be boring, no cable and not much of a TV - Video watcher or gamer. Good for me. Reading the bible has increased! Cooking as been perfected! and still cleaning is at a time high. (my daughter use to say )Mom, no one is coming over why do we clean so much.) NOW i understand that statement. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Holly Windom 4/16/2020 6:45 AMI live alone and before this period in our lives I was only at my condo to shower, change clothes and sleep. Well now I actually live here and I love it. Not being alone , but being at home. "Home is where the heart is" is on my bedroom wall, "Be grateful" is on my bathroom wall. "Don't forget the Sparkle" is on the wall going to the car. On the Kitchen wall "Joshua 24:15 as for me in my house we will serve the Lord". I love signs. and I have three more! I've always made sure I encourage my spirit and keep it positive and healthy.-
Laura Armstrong 4/24/2020 1:19 PMHolly, this is great! I have been making more of an effort to reach out to my team members (I try to daily) to check in just to say "hi" and to support them. I can tell that they do appreciate it! -
Cassandra Urban 4/22/2020 10:09 AM

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Holly Windom 4/13/2020 8:01 AMWell this has always been an issue with me. I'm a know food waster due to these dates. I did not realized they are suggested dates. I use to disgard food before that date think that by that date was way to late. Now only on dairy do I follow closer to the date. On bread and can goods I look at the product and judge.-
Scott Beckerman 4/16/2020 7:11 AMGreat points. Everyone in our house is looking more careful at the actual product and condition, not the best buy dates and it is making a difference!

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Choose LED BulbsChanging lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?
Holly Windom 4/13/2020 7:58 AMWell we at the time again where lighting is changing. I love the swirl bulbs and now you can find them in the store because LED is the new thing. We just have to believe the lighting company cause we can only buy what the sell. Not really see what I need which is a lower bill but we will see. -
Holly Windom 4/10/2020 11:51 AMNow that Lent is over I can go back to eating meat but I'm only going back at dinner time. I will do no meat at lunch and breakfast. I think I lost about 10 pounds, with no dairy, no sugar, no meat. Wish me luck. Also, No dessert until we are able to return to work! that will be my personal celebration time. Stay safe, Stay home, Stay healthy. -
