REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/30/2020 8:55 PMThe transition from food sovereignty to modern food system is complex because of it mixes the rights of people and what the government allows. Food sovereignty is the the rights of people to pick the food they want. This can be obtained from cheap forms of produce which conflicts with the food markets prices. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/30/2020 8:50 PMKnowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empowers me to make better decisions because I have better knowledge of what product is best to buy. This can help me make efficient purchases. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Research Benefits of BiodiversityHow can you encourage biodiversity by your own actions?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/30/2020 8:44 PMI can encourage biodiversity by my own actions by planting a variety of plants, making sure soil is healthy for plant's to grow, Making sure trash is picked up so no animals are harmed. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Eco-friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/30/2020 8:35 PMI think the most prominent water concerns in my area are the usage of water. People aren't being cautions about their intake of water. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/30/2020 8:32 PMA sustainable water future in my region would be something like a water gauge to keep track of our daily water usage. This would change the amount of water we use because we can keep track of how much we use and can be cautions to stay under the recommended limit. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Dishwasher EfficiencyHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/30/2020 8:29 PMWe try to limit the amount of water we use. Some examples are shorter showers, flush when necessary, efficient dish washing, and making sure all water is turned off if not used. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco TipsWhat environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/22/2020 8:34 PMI have started to recycle more and made sure that i'm not using more resource than I need to. I am ensuring that I'm successful by repeatedly doing it and if I mess up I have write down that I missed it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Forest-Friendly FoodsHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/16/2020 8:54 PMIt's difficult getting used to it. Sudden changes are hard but I think if I can ease my way into it I can enjoy it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/03/2020 8:41 PMI would say that is a huge part for our development. There is a difference between seeing and being there. Being outside feels much better than looking at it from a screen. We can actually feel the environment like the air, sun, the smell and it helps our minds and health. In a culture that likes to spend most of it's time indoors we like to watch and see the environment through the screen which is unhealthy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Elvin Argueta-Argueta 4/02/2020 7:47 PMConnecting with others helps my mental and emotional health because I have someone else that I can talk to about my thoughts instead of keeping them bottled up. This can help support others by allowing them to have someone to talk to. Both being able to express thoughts and feelings is a good and health thing so it benefits both sides.
