Lidetu's actions
People
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 5 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
People
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 1 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Forests
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Oceans
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Lidetu Ayalew 4/08/2020 1:51 PMIt eases my mind because I enjoy my time with the people I connect with via chat or face time, or through phone call. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Lidetu Ayalew 4/08/2020 1:50 PMMy guess would be that meat production is far greater in more wealthier countries that they are in poorer countries. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
