Energy savings for the home office

Now that we're all working from home, energy bills could go up. Take some time to evaluate your home office space (even if it's the kitchen table!). Many utilities offer home efficiency kits (LED bulbs, shower heads, etc.) - visit your electric utilities website to see if they offer any of these solutions. The links below will also help you find energy efficiency opportunities in your own space.

My Carbon Footprint

Use an online tool (links below) to calculate my carbon footprint and see what changes would make the most difference. Each calculator varies, but you'll typically need to gather: utility records, the flight history for the last year, and annual mileage and fuel efficiency of your vehicles.

Although the city sits on the Arkansas River much can be done to conserve water and energy. By utilizing eco-friendly landscaping and ground nutrients it will reduce the amount of chemicals being absorbed into the ground and back into the water tables.  Additionally, if the waste water treatment plants were to implement energy efficient equipment it would greatly benefit the city and the overall environment.

    People Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

There is nothing like fresh air. The added benefits of unplugging and taking a walk is mentally and physically beneficial.

I believe connection with others is vital.  My team has established 'virtual coffee breaks' each Monday, Wednesday and Friday with a joke of the day. Webcams are mandatory so that we can see each other. This has really helped maintain the morale of the team and supports each individuals needs and well being by 'being' there for one another and sharing time.
