Forests
Choose Better Wood Products
I will only purchase wood and paper products from ecologically certified sources like Forest Stewardship Council.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support A Sharing Economy
To reduce my consumption and waste and support my community, I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Use Muscle Power
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Oceans
Advocate For More Packaging Options
Plastic packaging can clog our water ways and the stomachs of sea creatures. I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Advocate For More Packaging OptionsWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Shivansh Chaturvedi 4/15/2020 12:10 PMI believe we are bringing an end to processes and systems that took millions of years to develop and evolve into what they are today. Animal extinction is removing generations of selection. Water pollution is ruining ecosystems. Greenhouse gases are creating weather patters we have never seen, and bring climate change with it, which is putting stress on the environment like never before. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Choose Better Wood ProductsBeyond carbon sequestration, what other benefits do forests offer you personally?
Shivansh Chaturvedi 4/15/2020 12:07 PMForests are pretty! Isn't that enough? They're serene places to find peace, they help reduce water erosion of soil, fix nitrogen, cycle CO2 and oxygen, and so much more. They're home to thousands of species around the planet! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Support A Sharing EconomyWhat are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
Shivansh Chaturvedi 4/15/2020 12:06 PMA sharing economy would essentially help us have a lower average burden on the planet, and would also prevent wasted resources that others could use. Uber, Lyft, Airbnb etc have already proven that. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Shivansh Chaturvedi 4/15/2020 12:04 PMI've started biking again, now that the weather is better, and it's been a great way to exercise, clear my mind, stay safe, and reduce emissions. I have managed to avoid Ubers and public transport, am able to go to the places I need, and have been able to get in my recreation without adding to my carbon footprint.
