Say No to Plastic Straws

An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

I think that taking more showers than baths and scraping dishes before putting them in the dishwasher instead of rinsing them first is really important in saving water.

Oceans Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I use a lot of single-use plastic cups and straws because I like to get coffee and bubble tea a lot, so bringing my own reusable cups with lids/straws would help cut down on a lot of that plastic used. I also use a lot of plastic bags, so I can bring reusable bags to the grocery store.

I ate three meatless meals, and had a vegan breakfast. I ate a salad, rice bowl, and some eggs and potatoes!

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

People in richer countries probably eat more meat than people in other places because buying meat is much more convenient. Everything is butchered and packaged before the consumer even has to think about purchasing meat from the grocery store. Eating more meat supports the meat industry, which is the cause of a lot of pollution and contributes to climate change. When more people eat more meat, it supports these industries, and we see more animal products for sale, which creates this cycle of consumerism. I think that utilizing more fruits and veggies in one's diet has lots of nutritional value. Eating more veggies also supplies one with fiber, and it tastes good!
