Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect Local, Support Local
We encourage teammates to connect to other local green organizations (including each other) and practice supporting local businesses at least once a week. Re-share a post, order curbside, make a donation to your favorite non-profit, or find a local business to make a purchase from! Let’s keep making St. Louis a greener, healthier, and more sustainable place to live, work, and learn! Have other or more specific actions to add to the Connect Local, Support Local Building Resilience Challenge please email [email protected].
People
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 1 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Oceans
Smart Seafood Choices
I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.
Forests
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area while following CDC guidelines for social distancing.
Wildlife
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 60 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Climate
Local Climate Issues
I will spend at least 15 minute(s) a day researching climate issues or climate solutions in my local area and share with others through my team feed, social media, or conversations with my peers.
Food
Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.
Fresh Water
Get Involved in the Water Justice Movement
I will spend at least 10 minutes a day using the resources provided to learn about water justice and find out how I can get involved in local initiatives.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Research Benefits of Biodiversity
I will spend at least 60 minutes researching how biodiversity positively impacts our world and how the loss of biodiversity harms it.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPeopleHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Linda Daniel 4/02/2020 6:01 PMToday I called an elderly friend, whose husband is in a senior living community. She usually spends half of her waking hours with her husband, but because of the Covid-19 she cannot visit him. Her and her husband are very close and she misses him, but is keeping busy doing things at home. Glad I called her, she is a dear friend.
