Eric's actions
Fresh Water
Dishwasher Efficiency
I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
Fresh Water
Eco-friendly Gardening
I will plant native species, landscape with water-efficient plants, and use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Climate
Local Climate Issues
I will spend at least 15 minute(s) a day researching climate issues or climate solutions in my local area and share with others through my team feed, social media, or conversations with my peers.
Fresh Water
Promote regenerative agricultural practices
Work with local irrigation district managers to promote regen ag practices to 1000's of customers. This will save water during our current low water year.
Climate
Use Muscle Power
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Action Track: Earth Day Together!
Earth Day Action: Write a Love Letter, Poem, or Song to Earth
I will express my love and gratitude for our Earth by writing a love letter, poem, or song to Earth.
Fresh Water
Continue promoting Regen ag to save irrigation water
Step 1 Contact 3 local irrigation districts and send them a 1 page handout on how regenerative agricultural practices save water. Step 2 follow up with each district manager to see if they agree and are willing to share this approach with their many 1000's of customers'

Eric Dittmer 4/13/2020 10:09 AMI've asked a local expert on soil regeneration how much water can be saved through regeneration practices. I plan to facilitate sending the information to local irrigation district managers so they can suggest this practice to their customenrs.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Eco-friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Eric Dittmer 4/13/2020 10:04 AMThe Rogue Valley is about 5.5 inches short of the normal 13 + inches for this time of the water year! We are heading for a dry summer and fall. This will be a major challenge for ag irrigation supplies.-
Ana B 4/16/2020 10:46 AMThank you for sharing this. I think that if as a community, we had a better understanding of how much water we need per year, how much we are short, and what we can do early on (during the winter/spring) to manage what we have the resource, the better off we would be.

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Eric Dittmer 4/13/2020 9:58 AMI bicycle about ten miles/day every day with about 1/2 for errands where I could use a car. I've continued to do this since about April 5 when I signed up.
