  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife Support Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/30/2020 10:24 AM
Because pollinators both pollinate plants which is good for the environment and they need to reproduce which they can't do if they can't eat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/30/2020 10:12 AM
Me and my family were going to fly to Pennsylvania however not we are going to drive there.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Fresh Water Eco-friendly Gardening
What are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/30/2020 10:09 AM
Asheville's water concerns include both flooding and droughts.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/30/2020 10:07 AM
I now know that expiration dates aren't the actual time that it is dangerous to eat something and you need to throw it away, for example if something expires the next day it is still safe to eat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Oceans Join a Cleanup Effort
How does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/23/2020 2:12 PM
By cleaning up our rivers and creeks it both saves wildlife creatures and decontaminates the water.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/12/2020 10:58 AM
I think that for some people meat is something that you only get on special occasions and so people in richer countries have more money to spend on things like meat.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Forests Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/12/2020 10:48 AM
By spending time outside you can enhance your sense of a place by giving you an outlet away from others.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    People Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/12/2020 10:43 AM
I think that by spending time outside it does give you an outlet away from the people your living with, it also gives a way to clear your head.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/11/2020 9:58 AM
I can travel by foot more or use public transport to reduce carbon emmisions by cars.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin's avatar
    Ramona EldridgeLaughlin 4/11/2020 9:47 AM
You could put the items in your cart and then bring them to your car or, if they had them, you could ask for a paper bag.
