Marissa's actions

Fresh Water

Use the water that is usually wasted while running a faucet to get it hot.

This action will help with water consumption and awareness. There are many things that could use the water wasted while waiting for the hot water to come through- collect it to water my plants, soaking dishes, etc..

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Support A Sharing Economy
What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?

Truly this is the time to build connections and a sharing (or gifting) economy. So many people are in need and will be in need as the effects of the pandemic continue to roll out.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

That rings very true to me. I think connection to the natural world is part of the global unhappiness and a major cause of oppression. Connection to and appreciation of nature and life is key to treating both the earth and people with kindness and caring.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate Local Climate Issues
In what ways is your local community resilient to shock events like we’ve experienced recently? How could you help it become more resilient?

Our community has many CSAs to participate in and garden growers that will help us weather economic impacts on agriculture.
