How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

Spending time outside can improve your short term memory, it can help to fight depression and it can lower your blood pressure.  It is always good for the soul when you can get outside and spend time in nature.  I know when I am outside I feel much better.  A beautifal day at the beach always help me relax.

What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

Instead of flying out to Texas, me and my family are going to go on a camping trip instead.  This is a location that we can drive to.  To avoid flying in the future we can plan trips that are within driving distance or we can take a train

Action Track: Building Resilience Research Benefits of Biodiversity
How can you encourage biodiversity by your own actions?

YOu can buy organic foods.  You can reduce your waste.  You can recycle,  You can use environmentally safe chemicals to clean with.  One of the biggest ways you can ecourage biodiversity is by educating yourself and others.

Action Track: Building Resilience Support Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators?

    Kody Everett's avatar

Pollinators provide pollination services for wild plants and many of our crop species.  They are also important because they are a source of food for migrating birds, beewolves, praying mantises, and many spiders.

I have really enjoyed doing the One Time Challenges.  It has given me things to research and pay attention to that I probably would not have thought about.  I really enjoy learning about the oceans and marine life, but I have never thought much about how changing light bulbs and planting trees can help the environment as well.  It seems sometimes the simple things can really add up to help out in a big way.

    Climate Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

One thing that we always forget is to turn off the light when you leave a room.  We could also reduce the miles we are driving.  We could help by taking the bus (if possible), biking to work or school, and also by carpooloing.  Only wash your clothes when you have a full load and you could also hang clothes out to dry instead of using the dryer.

What is one way in which oceans support your life on Earth? What is one way you can help take care of ocean health with your actions?

The oceans provide a stunning 50 % - 70 % of oxygen on planet Earth. I thought it all came from plants and trees. I was pretty surprised to learn this. The oceans also help with regulating the climate.

The best way to help take care of ocean health is by reducing plastic that ends up in the oceans. it amazes me of how much plastic ends up in our waterways.  Using reusable shopping bags, not using disposable cups, bottles, and straws, but rather using reusable ones helps a lot more than you might think.

Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

In my research i found the differences between the use by, sell by and best by dates that food is labeled with.

Use-By: This date is aimed at consumers as a guide of the date by which the product should be eaten; mostly because of quality, not because the item will make you sick if eaten after the use-by date.

Sell-By: This label is for retailers, and it lets them know the date when the product should be sold or removed from the shelf.

Best-By: This is a suggestion to the consumer on which date the product should be eaten by to assure for best quality.
