Cindy's actions
Climate
Choose LED Bulbs
I will replace 3 incandescent lightbulb(s) with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Climate
Use Muscle Power
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
Food
Native plant gardening
Planting native ensures pollinators will be able to find food and plants will be better able to survive the area conditions.
Food
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect Local, Support Local
We encourage teammates to connect to other local green organizations (including each other) and practice supporting local businesses at least once a week. Re-share a post, order curbside, make a donation to your favorite non-profit, or find a local business to make a purchase from! Let’s keep making St. Louis a greener, healthier, and more sustainable place to live, work, and learn! Have other or more specific actions to add to the Connect Local, Support Local Building Resilience Challenge please email Fbrandt@mobot.org.

Cindy Farris 4/09/2020 5:28 AMI just purchased coneflowers to add to a sunny hill in my backyard. I love that coneflowers provide beauty all summer long and the finches love to eat the seeds in fall and winter. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Cindy Farris 4/09/2020 5:26 AMMy compost consists of lots of coffee grounds and filters, vegetable peels, egg shells, egg cartons. I add leaves in fall and grass clippings in summer and add the compost to my perennial gardens. Very little kitchen waste goes into our kitchen trashcan.
