REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex agrarian transition to modern food systems?
Anna-Marie Guenther 4/15/2020 5:48 PMIt gives the power to small farmers to localize the agro-economy to their region as opposed to multi-billion dollar agribusinesses depriving them of their livelihoods. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Anna-Marie Guenther 4/13/2020 6:39 PMBeing outside in this beautiful weather has helped me maintain a positive outlook on everything! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Anna-Marie Guenther 4/09/2020 4:48 PMThe cost of producing meat is high, limiting access to only those who can afford it. I read this in an article recently:
According to the World Resources Institute, national and global diets will have to shift to a more plant-based one come the year 2050 in order to stay within sustainable environmental limits without compromising the billions of people that need to eat.
Without a significant reduction in animal agriculture, it will be extremely difficult to prevent a 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius increase in global temperature, which is necessary to avoid the catastrophic consequences of the climate crisis by 2030. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Research Benefits of BiodiversityHow can you encourage biodiversity by your own actions?
Anna-Marie Guenther 4/07/2020 9:24 PMI've always wanted to plant bee-friendly native plants/flowers in my backyard and around school! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Anna-Marie Guenther 4/06/2020 6:24 PMDefinitely! It's really easy to stay at home all day, and it's been an effort to designate time solely for being outdoors. Whether we realize it or not, being outside, especially in such a beautiful state, can do wonders. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Anna-Marie Guenther 4/06/2020 6:19 PMOne of the hardest parts of self-isolating is being away from my friends! Connecting with them virtually has helped validate all the confusion, frustration, and stress I've experienced during these strange times. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Anna-Marie Guenther 4/06/2020 6:15 PMIt can be confusing to differentiate between these labels! Now that I've learned a little bit about how to distinguish between them, I feel like I can take the necessary steps/precautions to avoid wasting perfectly good food. -
