Reflection QuestionPeople Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
EMMA HEASLET 4/09/2020 8:29 AMI chose to write letters for middle-school teachers who are self-isolating through "Points of Light: Write Letters to Our Teachers," an AmeriCorp project. Doing this work will hopefully help ease some of my feelings of helplessness during this time. -

Reflection QuestionWildlife Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
EMMA HEASLET 4/01/2020 4:56 PMI am particularly passionate about reducing waste and disposing of it properly. -
Reflection QuestionPeople Support A Sharing EconomyWhat are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
EMMA HEASLET 4/01/2020 4:55 PMA sharing economy prevents us from purchasing items that we only have a temporary use for. It reduces waste, saves space, and helps us to connect to one another. Through my local Buy Nothing group, I have made connections with people in my community who I would not have met otherwise. -
Reflection QuestionFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
EMMA HEASLET 4/01/2020 4:50 PMIt empowers me to use my gut when making decisions on whether or not to throw something out. If it smells and looks good, then it's probably fine! -
Reflection QuestionForests Forest-Friendly FoodsHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
EMMA HEASLET 4/01/2020 4:49 PMIt was not difficult because luckily, most of the products I use that had palm oil were RSPO-certified. As for cocoa products, I will look out for certifications on the packaging before I buy next time.
