I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area while following CDC guidelines for social distancing.

Water-Friendly Beauty Products
Avoid beauty products with micro beads or harsh chemicals that will feed into the ground and your water supply.

Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 3 hour(s) in my community helping people who are most at need right now, including elderly and immunocompromised people, people without childcare, and people whose jobs have been affected by social distancing measures.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 15 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Wildlife
Research a Wild Animal
I will spend at least 15 minutes learning about a wild animal I find interesting, including their life cycle, habitat, ecosystem functions, and interactions with humans (if any!).

REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Gracie Hutcheson 4/20/2020 7:38 AMI volunteered to help people clean up after the storms we have had. It helped people get out of their driveways, drive on the roads, and fix their yard back up. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Research a Wild AnimalWhat interesting facts did you learn about the animal you researched? What are some of your favorite things about this animal?
Gracie Hutcheson 4/17/2020 5:48 PMI researched kangaroos. Some interesting facts about them are they travel in groups, they are the outbacks version of "camels" because they don't drink much water, there are 47 different species of kangaroos, and they can hop of to 40 miles per hour. One of my favorite things that about kangaroos is how their carry their babies, also known as "joeys". -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Gracie Hutcheson 4/13/2020 7:13 PMNature can be so many different things to people so I think she's right. If we continue to stay inside all the time, we won't be able to see the toll we are putting on the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?
Gracie Hutcheson 4/13/2020 7:11 PMWe can see how truly beautiful nature is, how nature is why we are alive, and what pollution and littering can do to our environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Water-Friendly Beauty ProductsBeyond what does or doesn't come out of the tap at home, how do your choices affect freshwater locally and globally?
Gracie Hutcheson 4/13/2020 12:00 PMI've stopped using micro-bead face washes because the micro-beads are little pieces of plastic that are so "micro" they can slip through filtration systems and make it back into our waterways.
