  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Forests
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

Somethings that make it harder is that sometimes if you go out to get something, then you might not be able to get a reusable one instead of a single-use cup. It can also be hard to bring a reusable one when you go out. It makes me feel good because I know that I am helping.

Today, I thought that it went well because I learned a lot of different things already.

What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

I never have traveled a lot on a plane so it wasn't that hard to do because it was somewhere close by, so then I just drove there. A way that I could avoid air travel in the future is by traveling more inside of our country, so then we could drive to places more easily,
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Action Track: Building Resilience
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

Yes, if we spend all of our time indoors, then we might use more materials that we could save if we spent more time outside.

So far I think that my challenge has been going well because I have been able to do all of my challenges.

    Fresh Water
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

I think that something that needs to change in my area is that I see a lot of people throwing plastic bottles into the trash. I think that this needs to change so we don't use as much plastic, of at least recycle it.

Something that I am grateful for about our planet is that it gives us a place to live and everything that we need.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

Sometimes I use my own reusable bag that I would make by myself, or whenever I need to go shopping, I would just keep a small bag in my pocket so then I won't forget to bring one with me. Sometimes I would also just carry things in my hands if I don't have a bag.
