REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Wendy Johnston 4/08/2020 6:34 AMAdmittedly, this challenge is easy with the 'quarantine.' Being at home 24/7 means that I am not picking up. my daily (some times 2x) latte, getting a soda in a paper cup for lunch, etc.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Wendy Johnston 3/30/2020 2:32 PMPeople in richer countries (i.e. post industrialized) eat more meat than people in other places due to a radical shift from being an agrarian society to an industrialized/post industrialized society. Meat and the ability to put meat on the table is, in a large part, a status symbol (much like that manicured lawn).
Another factor is religion and cultural differences, some countries animals are viewed differently and are not considered a food source (e.g. cows in India).
The consumption of or demand for meat has lead to the growth of the industrialized livestock farms. Industrialized livestock farms contribute to the pollution, land degradation, and an increase in food born illnesses such as semolina and ecoli.
