Emma's actions
People
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 2 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Forests
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 4 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Oceans
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 3 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Food
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
I will spend at least 5 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
Oceans
Learn about Our Oceans
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning about how our oceans support life on Earth by producing oxygen, regulating climate, and providing habitat, food, and jobs.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Learn about Our OceansWhat is one way in which oceans support your life on Earth? What is one way you can help take care of ocean health with your actions?
Emma Jonas 4/18/2020 12:43 PMOceans provide 50-70% of our oxygen on earth. The oceans also provide a big source of food for humans like seafood and fish. To take care of the ocean's health I can eat sustainable seafood and recycle my plastics properly. -
Emma Jonas 4/15/2020 7:00 AMI have a reusable water bottle which is a hydro flask that I can use instead of plastic cups. Later today I'm going to facetime a friend and family member. I was going to face time my friend anyway so it didn't matter about the eco challenge -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Emma Jonas 4/15/2020 6:42 AMConnecting with others makes me happy for my mental health because I'm a pretty social person. It makes me emotionally more happy.
