they attract birds, which is a wonderful way to wake up;  provide shade, privacy, and protection; leaf raking is a great excuse to get exercise out side; some provide beneficial aromatherapy. a sense of connection and pride "I planted that"
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    some very easy simple ways:
when changing pet water use left over and rinse water on plants
use candle light before bed, better for you and the environment
convert from single use products, tp, paper towel, baggies etc.
use shading and cross ventilation in place of air conditioning, even if only part of the time.

I live in a high agriculture area, but they are conscientious about watersheds, quality and conservation.  they are some of our leading conservationists.  The problem I see is from People lacking connection to the land that utilize strong pesticides on their lawns, etc.( which runs off into our shed system), pour various pollutants into the rainwater management system, and even through large bags of garbage into the waterways.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    People Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

since I was a child I would be sent outside when I got cranky.  Problem solved.
As a society living  with Corvid, I think we will learn something about spending time outside vs being forced to stay inside.

    Dexter Kosk 4/03/2020 10:34 AM
so many ways.  I need to be outside for my mental health.  Exploring stimulates the mind, keeps me curious and excited about everything.  But mostly spending time outside gives me connection to the world around me, neighbors ( human, animal, and plant), to the ebb and flow of my habitat, influences, and so much more.
