Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Fresh Water
Water-Friendly Beauty Products
Avoid beauty products with micro beads or harsh chemicals that will feed into the ground and your water supply.
Fresh Water
Dishwasher Efficiency
I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
Forests
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 3 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
People
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 70 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Dishwasher EfficiencyHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?
Jason Lackie 4/30/2020 10:33 AMPhoenix takes aggressive steps in reusing waste water (Phoenix is approaching 100% reuse) treating waste for reuse in power production, irrigation, and recharge. This makes Phoenix a test bed for infrastructure and processes that can benefit other areas of the globe who are at high risk of drought. That said it we still divert massive amounts of water to support the city and though water reuse is a key step 2 reduction in individual practices (like using dishwashers, or leaving a pool uncovered when not in use) have a large impact when spread out over the cities growing population. -
Jason Lackie 4/30/2020 9:14 AMIt's been a great challenge! I can't wait until our next one. -
Jason Lackie 4/20/2020 8:46 AMSocial distancing while running and hiking was sure a lot easier pre pandemic when everyone was in front of their screens in the evening. -
Jason Lackie 4/07/2020 10:14 AMCarbon footprint of 7.73! I think this is good... I hit back on the page and it cleared it. oops
