Hana's actions
Fresh Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Fresh Water
Eco-friendly Gardening
I will plant native species, landscape with water-efficient plants, and use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Action Track: Earth Day Together!
Earth Day Action: Share Eco Tips
Through social media or on the Earth Day Ecochallenge feed, I will share my favorite environmentally friendly habit with my friends, even if it’s not an Earth Day action.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 3 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Wildlife
Research a Wild Animal
I will spend at least 4 minutes learning about a wild animal I find interesting, including their life cycle, habitat, ecosystem functions, and interactions with humans (if any!).
Oceans
Spread the word to the community
Contact someone in power, put up posters around the neighborhood, tell your friends and family, and tell them to tell theirs! Get the word out.
Oceans
Advocate For More Packaging Options
Plastic packaging can clog our water ways and the stomachs of sea creatures. I will advocate for alternatives to single-use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, at work, or on campus.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Hana Levy 4/22/2020 7:56 AMAll we need to do is make sure we are using sustainable products, and being mindful of how much water we are using. This is a good first step! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Eco-friendly GardeningWhat are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.
Hana Levy 4/21/2020 12:57 PMThere is a lot of pollution in our neighborhood. Not just in water, but on land too. When we are walking right next to our house, we see trash scattered everywhere. It is so sad. People need to learn not to be lazy, and learn more about this plastic issue, and not just plastic, just general pollution. -
Hana Levy 4/21/2020 12:50 PMI just completed my challenges! Looks like it's time to pick some new ones! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco TipsWhat environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?
Hana Levy 4/21/2020 12:45 PMOne eco tip that I have is to ask for no plastic straw with your drink. Another, is to recycle toilet paper rolls. You don't want to waste those now! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Hana Levy 4/09/2020 12:18 PMHow are other people feeling about this terrible time, and what are they doing to get their minds off of it? -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Use a Reusable Water BottleUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed - both humans and wildlife - by this bottling process?
Hana Levy 4/03/2020 1:01 PMMy reusable water bottle is important. I have multiple, in case on starts leaking.
