Kimberly's actions
Wildlife
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 60 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Fresh Water
Water-Friendly Beauty Products
Avoid beauty products with micro beads or harsh chemicals that will feed into the ground and your water supply.

Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
I will watch 1 documentary(ies) about food sovereignty: the right of local peoples to control their own food systems including markets, ecological resources, food cultures and production methods.

Action Track: Earth Day Together!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh WaterUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed - both humans and wildlife - by this bottling process?
Kimberly Lombardozzi 4/16/2020 5:43 AMBy creating a local task force of like-minded individuals, we can make the plea to corporations and get our local government, chamber of commerce and environmental improvement commissions to come together to attack the problem. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh WaterBeyond what does or doesn't come out of the tap at home, how do your choices affect freshwater locally and globally?
Kimberly Lombardozzi 4/16/2020 5:40 AMA couple of years ago I got involved in a storm drain labeling program with my local village. This labeling initiative asked for volunteers to label drains to notify there was no dumping. Most don't know that water runoff to drains goes directly back into our local waterways without treatment. Some individuals may view storm drains as trash receptacles for trash, used motor oil, leftover paint, pet waste or other pollutants. Storm drain labeling serves as an educational tool to remind people about the connection between storm drains and local water bodies. -
