Today I was more mindful due to it being the last day of the ecochallenge and I Reduced the amount of water I used and only ran my dish washer once this week.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?

    Alyssa Lowe's avatar
    Alyssa Lowe 4/29/2020 8:26 PM
I recently shared how I switched to a reusable water bottle and how much more beneficial it will be . It’s also a fun to customize a water bottle with some friends to make the process fun.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Fresh Water Dishwasher Efficiency
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    Alyssa Lowe's avatar
    Alyssa Lowe 4/29/2020 8:25 PM
I will start to not leave my dishes and reduce how much water I use to soak off food and when loading my dishwasher. Although I can’t stop washing dishes I can be mindful of how much water and time is being wasted in the process.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Fresh Water Use a Reusable Water Bottle
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed - both humans and wildlife - by this bottling process?

    Alyssa Lowe 4/29/2020 8:23 PM
I can use my voice on social media to raise awareness and stress importance of fresh water and reduction of waste and over consumption.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Alyssa Lowe's avatar
    Alyssa Lowe 4/29/2020 8:15 PM
It helps so we are clear on not being wasteful , use by is when a product is considered no longer suitable to eat after its expiration. Best by and sell by are dates it should leave the store and gives time after the buy date where it’s safe and best to consume.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Climate Earth Day Action: Write a Love Letter, Poem, or Song to Earth

    Alyssa Lowe 4/29/2020 8:13 PM
I grateful that our planet keeps giving and allows for us to appreciate nature . Especially in this time we are able to be closer to one another despite what’s going on and get back to the true essence of people,
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    People Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

    Alyssa Lowe's avatar
    Alyssa Lowe 4/22/2020 8:05 PM
Yes that is true nature keeps us guessing and allows us to keep peace in our life by knowing we aren’t the only living creatures. When people sends more time inside we forget about how to communicate and appreciate nature.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    People Connect While Social Distancing
How does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Alyssa Lowe 4/16/2020 8:30 PM
I made a chipotle bowl to have for my lunch for each day . I did this because I can switch the ingredients I use in each bowl and it cost less than getting a bowl for $10.
