Shayne's actions
Forests
Plant Trees
I will plant 3 native tree(s) in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Fresh Water
Eco-friendly Gardening
I will plant native species, landscape with water-efficient plants, and use eco-friendly fertilizers.
Forests
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area while following CDC guidelines for social distancing.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 60 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Wildlife
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 120 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Shayne Magdoff 4/25/2020 1:59 PMIt was unusual today - never thought about birding. But there are so many birds around, singing different songs - so now I am curious, at least to find out which birds seem to like the environment around our home. I guess it is as they say, live and learn. Although I learn something new everyday.-
Jeanne Poirier 4/25/2020 7:41 PMMy guess is the population of birds will increase and shift with the migration. We do live in an amazing birding area - so good on you. I love seeing the coming/going of birds, butteries - ENJOY!

Shayne Magdoff 4/20/2020 5:34 PMOne thing I notice as I spend my time outside, is that I can hear all types of birds singing. I can actually hear them from inside my bedroom in the morning, but don't know the kind of bird. Now I can look over to the melodious sound.-
Kevin Kane 4/21/2020 9:07 PMSo many birds nesting in.m my front yard which is not all that big. 4 different species.
