I plan on line drying some laundry outside on this beautiful day. I have really enjoyed seeing my power bill decrease since I started using natural forces like the sun and wind to dry my laundry versus the electrical expenditures of a dryer. I still use it if I have to but I try not to need to!

Enjoying a wonderful bowl of yogurt, granola, and fresh NC grown strawberries this morning. Add a little coffee in my mug and you have a breakfast of champions! Way to go everyone on your Earth Day Eco-challenge! We are almost there :)

I am excited that today is the last day in the foreseeable forecast to have a low in the 40s. This means I can re-plant my green bean, zuchinni, okra, limas, and cucumber seeds. Fingers-crossed for a better outcome this time.

I forgot to post yesterday, but I spent about 5 hours outside working in the area behind my shed that has grown up too much. I plan on reclaiming the space for a greenhouse that I have started building.

I have been working in the yard a lot during this time. I've switched to taking yard debris in bags to the dump to using large trash cans. This is reducing plastics!

I have a beautiful iris that is blooming. I will post a picture tomorrow. I had cleared out a flower bed of some weeds and it started to bloom. I do not think I have ever seen this particular one bloom. It has the most dynamic colors.

My favorite environmentally friendly habits are home gardening and growing my own food, recently the use of a clothesline in my backyard to harness the power of the wind where I live, also recently I have started cutting back on the meats that I eat that are not sustainable. It is a struggle and some days I do not accomplish all of my goals, but I know that by trying I am making an impact. Here is to everyone trying! Have a great Earth Day all!

While walking back from feeding my chickens this morning I noticed that some of my starter plants have put on some new growth and might survive the frostbite that the got with that last chill. Here is to gentle rains and sunny days! Happy Earth Day Everyone!
