Olga Mullen 4/30/2020 12:11 AMThis Earth Day Ecochallenge will end today, I hope it was inspirational for us. Maybe we will think even more about our actions towards a greener world and don´t forget - We Are Blue But We Act Green! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Support A Sharing EconomyWhat are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
Olga Mullen 4/29/2020 11:55 AMThe benefits of a sharing economy are clear - saving the environment!I have been using a car share a lot while living in the USA, this has been a perfect way how not to burden the environment with other emissions. And saving money, too:) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco TipsWhat environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?
Olga Mullen 4/22/2020 12:11 PMI regularly pick up the litter, this is my habit. I really don´t like how people behave disrespectfully towards our commonly shared area. And I teach my preschooler to keep the areas clean or pick up the trash with me. And she does and excellent job! (well, she has no other option under my strict rules:) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Olga Mullen 4/22/2020 12:03 PMI saw a documentary film on the topic of animal agriculture a few years ago. It said how destructive this is to the planet - it is the single largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, a leading cause of water use, deforestation, etc. Even after those years after watching the film the topic is more than actual. It´s time to re-think my meat attitude. -
Olga Mullen 4/22/2020 4:26 AMHappy Earth Day, everyone! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Olga Mullen 4/22/2020 4:25 AMCleaning up litter is endless, especially in our country. I don´t remember seeing so much trash outside while I have been living close to the Golden Gate Park. It makes me sad to see my fellow Czech citizens litter our common areas. But we can´t get discouraged and should keep doing what is right. Although it seems like a never-ending process, picking up piece by piece already makes a little difference. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Olga Mullen 4/20/2020 12:53 PMTime outdoors is the best time spent for me, especially when my family is around and some sport activity is included as well. This is a short break between cycling with my daughter. by the Vltava river. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPeople Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Olga Mullen 4/09/2020 6:18 AMI have 3 very old ladies in my extended family. Two aunts are little over 80, one is a former neighbor, a widowed lady, 93 years old. I call them on a regular basis and they are so happy to talk to someone. I visit them in normal circumstances but we can just call these days. Hopefully, we will meet soon again. -
Olga Mullen 4/08/2020 9:33 AMDelivered more face masks to the local Prague 12 Municipality where I have also got the material. -
