    Food Weekly Meal Planning
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

This does not surprise me. Food is often bought without a plan on how to use it. Even with a plan, things change and food rots and is thrown out.

Composting is always a good alternative to throwing out bad food. If possible, making shopping trips smaller, and getting only what you need for a few days and combining other trips is helpful to reduce waste. During the pandemic, this is obviously not ideal, but when shopping can resume to normal, it would help.

If I had an extra $1500 a year, I would save it for a vacation.
