Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Oceans
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 2 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Participant Feed

Louise Ng 4/24/2020 4:29 AMI truly believe this is not restricted to straws but other plastic products should be reduced from our daily activities. I am now becoming more aware on for a number of things : for example, bring my own bag when shopping, not asking for plastic cutlery when buying take-away lunch box. These could also be a big help to the ocean, as well as the environment. -
Louise Ng 4/11/2020 9:01 PMWe need to clean and remove the majority remaining residue when we recycle our plastic bottles/containers, as well as removing the unnecessary packing materials of them. Otherwise, we will make the recycle process difficult. Any other advice please ? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Louise Ng 4/09/2020 1:33 AMSpend time to see the nature is making me relaxed and cheerful. We need to release our mind and soul from a restricted indoor zone to an unlimited outside nature to enjoy the beauty of it, as well as all the lovely creatures. I do night walk everyday with the earphones on for music/songs. It unlocked me from the work/home issues and immerse myself completely to this “me time”. It refreshes my mind and detox from the hectic day ! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOceans Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Louise Ng 4/08/2020 1:45 AMWe could do a lot to make an environmental friendly world. Such as skip straws, bring our own coffee mug or water bottle, bring our own bag for shopping household products. One small step for everyone will make a big difference.-
Sandy Lin 4/09/2020 1:54 AMIt is a good point.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Louise Ng 4/07/2020 11:01 PMDon't underestimate small efforts that you make is not important ! it will certainly give positive energy to others. This is easy but people normally trends to ignore it.
