Dusty's actions
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals. If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Fresh Water
Dishwasher Efficiency
I will scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading into the dishwasher and only run the dishwasher when it’s full.
Fresh Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Fresh Water
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 10 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Dusty Noble 4/07/2020 6:38 AMKnowing what these dates mean allows for less food waste as products are safe to use beyond certain dates. This keeps more food from being discarded unnecessarily and allows for better meal planning when we are shopping at the grocery store. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Use Reusable BagsWhat do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?
Dusty Noble 4/07/2020 6:30 AMWe keep our reusable bags in our car so they are rarely forgotten. I have also carried all my items to my car in a cart unbagged.
