Action Track: Building Resilience
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 10 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
Wildlife
Research a Wild Animal
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning about a wild animal I find interesting, including their life cycle, habitat, ecosystem functions, and interactions with humans (if any!).
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Kay Noden 4/30/2020 6:10 AMGod is in all of nature including the woodpecker in my tree that wakes me up most mornings. His Warmth is in the sunshine. His Love is in both the gentle breeze & rushing wind. His Hope is in the changing seasons. Staying indoors limits us to human creation. Stepping out into the great wide world put us in His Presence. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Research a Wild AnimalWhat interesting facts did you learn about the animal you researched? What are some of your favorite things about this animal?
Kay Noden 4/27/2020 8:56 AMMy 3 year old saw an opossum on our deck & was fascinated with it. It was like a zoo experience at home. LOL So we looked it up. She loved the prehensile tail & now uses prehensile in sentences accurately. The moms also carry their babies on their back so "let's play opossum" doesn't mean "play dead" in her world. It means I give her a opossum-back ride. Her grandfather gave her a stuffed animal opossum and said that some people eat opossum. She was very upset that someone in the world would want to eat Pete the Opossum so we had to promise not to eat him. :D-
Tanette Welsh 4/28/2020 8:43 AMI found Absurd Planet on Netflix this week- and ended up watching a few of them! I fell in love with this show! I loved the clown fish and their relationship with the anemone. The clown fish receive protection from the anemone and the anemone receive food from the clown fish.
I also learned there are a lot of sea animals that have that type of symbiotic relationship, and I am sure animals in general. -
Melanie Stewart 4/27/2020 12:43 PMI love this!! I can't wait for your daughter to use prehensile in a sentence and surprise and adult!--and then have to ask her what it means!?!?
Thanks for not eating Pete :)
