REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Conserve Toilet WaterWhat would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?
Kara Otto 4/28/2020 4:52 PMWe suffer from issues of periodic drought (like many places) and also heavily burdened water sources. We have a climate that is more arid. We need more community regulation of water resources including education, alternatives, and incentives. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Water-Friendly Beauty ProductsBeyond what does or doesn't come out of the tap at home, how do your choices affect freshwater locally and globally?
Kara Otto 4/28/2020 4:51 PMI am careful to reduce the amount of chemicals used in my household - especially those that wash down the drain via beauty products. For several years now, I have been relying heavily on sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners that are vegan and gluten-free. My skincare line follows the same practices and I have recently begun transitioning more of my cosmetics to follow suit. I am proud to support vendors who support my world. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFresh Water Use a Reusable Water BottleUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed - both humans and wildlife - by this bottling process?
Kara Otto 4/28/2020 4:49 PMBottles are really destructive - particularly plastic for a whole host of reasons. There are so may alternatives. At an individual level, there are glass bottles and/or in-home systems. Companies can choose in-office filtration systems. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Kara Otto 4/28/2020 4:48 PMMeat is a tough one. People have different resources and different needs, yet we all live in the same community. If going meatless is too much, greater balance among the food groups can help our world community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Kara Otto 4/28/2020 4:47 PMI have a lot of respect for businesses that compost. My own company composts!
