ONE-TIME ACTION

People

Spend Time Outside

I will replace 20 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.

DAILY ACTIONS

Food

Reduce and Reuse

I will use reusable containers to store leftovers. Every third night will be leftover night, where leftovers are used in place of new meals. This will reduce waste, require less energy, and reduce garbage.

Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

During this time, as we stay at home, we can reflect on what we can, and should do to make our planet a better place to reside. As the earth is healing itself, we need to think how we can use this time work towards making this world better. We've been given an opportunity to reset. How can we carry this forward? Rethink trips to the store? Can we work from home more often, saving gas, and reducing pollution? Do we need to buy and discard all the things as we've done in the past?
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    People Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

It is important for all of us to get outside our own bubble, to connect with the outside world, to reflect, and realize that we are part of a big picture. As we connect with nature, we nourish our souls. One cannot exist without the other.
