    Forests Use a Reusable Mug
Maybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?

I've being making the switch to avoiding single use items in recent years and have found that with some planning and a decent travel bag, I haven't missed items meant to be tossed out after each use. By either making my own coffee or using a travel mug when out, I've saved countless cups and money, and this is far more sustainable for the earth and my bank account which feels like a win win.

How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

When reading about the USDA standards for use by, sell by, and best by dates- I found it to be very beneficial to know that these dates are not required to be included on food labels other than infant formulas and in most cases simply means peak freshness as opposed to indicating that food has gone bad. Ultimately, people should make sure to properly store and refrigerate certain items within a timely manner and use their eyes and noses to look for signs or a foul smell which would indicate something has perished and is not suitable to eat.

    Fresh Water Eco-friendly Gardening
What are the most prominent water concerns in your area? Examples include drought, flooding, pollution, access, security, and privatization.

In the Pacific Northwest, we are seeing declines in availability of fresh water such as with the shortages being seen with the Mount Hood snow pack each year. Another source of water concern is in reference to the Colorado River which has been coined as the most over promised river due to many states relying on it for their  freshwater needs. Furthermore, the water that we do have access to is being polluted with plastic and waste from agricultural and industry practices.
