REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Ann Richard 4/22/2020 8:54 AMBeing a part of a committee or helping with an event allows you to realize how important every person is in their community, If everyone did their part then it would be much easier to help with all the environmental issues that are going on. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Leave No TraceEducator Stephanie Kaza advises her students to focus on what they care about most when addressing the enormity of ecological problems. Is there a specific area you feel particularly called to work on?
Ann Richard 4/22/2020 8:53 AMI think that it is important for everyone to know that everything they individually does matters. Since we live on the coast and water is so important I think that is something that everyone here should think about, as well as food security. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Research and Support Local OrganizationsWhy is it important to support local organizations and businesses? How does it help to build a more resilient community?
Ann Richard 4/21/2020 3:42 PMBuying local for produce and goods is so much better for each community. Whether it is learning who your farmer is that grew your lettuce or who created that wonderful ceramic bowl, it is SO important. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Ann Richard 4/20/2020 8:45 AMI don't know what I would do if I couldn't take a walk everyday or at least go outside in my yard or neighborhood. I think it is so important to just stop and listen to the birds in the yard. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Advocate For More Food OptionsWhat efforts would help food insecure regions have access to local, seasonal foods?
Ann Richard 4/20/2020 8:44 AMI think that planting more community gardens and allotments would be a great way to start. Also having more school gardens so students learn about what to grow at school and then go home and want to plant something. -
Ann Richard 4/16/2020 8:21 AMMaking sure I log in and get some work done as well with my tea. -
