Kristianna's actions
Fresh Water
Conserve Toilet Water
I will save up to 12 gallons (45 L) of water a day by flushing only when necessary.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 2 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Forests
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 1 meatless meal(s) and/or 1 vegan meal(s) each day of the challenge.
Oceans
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When marine wildlife ingest plastic, they have a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Kristianna Segura-hall 4/13/2020 9:13 AMI have always strived to us reusable coffee cups in the office and at home. When an office does not provide reusable mugs I have tended to always bring in my own to wash and re-use. This one difference saves thousands of mugs. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Kristianna Segura-hall 4/09/2020 8:14 AMI personally am unsure why richer countries eat more meat. My only thought could be it is cheaper and more sustainable to keep a garden of veggies and other products. Choosing between a killing a cow to eat for only a few meals or keeping the cow alive and using it for endless amount of milk, cheese, and so forth. This is all dependent on each country and their culture/values.
I do not think it is the action of eating meat itself, but what the factories are doing to the meat, and what carbon submissions that is letting out to our world globally. We are not a race that need meat products at the grand amounts that we eat it and sometimes we mistake it for protein when we can find protein in other meatless products,
