Lauren's actions
Food
Grow your own food
Spend 30 minutes working on my garden to facilitate growing my own food.
Action Track: Building Resilience
Support Pollinators
At least 30% of crops and 90% of flowering plants rely on pollinators, including monarch butterflies, to produce fruit. I will spend 30 minutes researching which plants support local native pollinators and plant some in my yard.
People
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside that follows CDC guidelines for preventing disease spread.
People
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 3 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Food
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Lauren Stevens 4/02/2020 11:06 AMDoes anyone have any experience composting using an upcycled storage bin? I have one with a locking lid which, according to the internet is usable. I have limited space in my yard and I don't want to spend a ton of money to get my compost going and would love to be able to upcycle this bin. Thoughts?-
Lauren Stevens 4/03/2020 6:21 AMHey Megan! Apparently you're supposed to cut a bunch of holes in the bin. I'm trying to find a system that can't be infiltrated by city rats (I'm over near Hampden). -
Megan Anderson 4/03/2020 3:25 AMI don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Are you supposed to cut the bottom off? I find I don’t really compost “right” (I don’t pay attention to ratios or turning it) but that whenever I open it to add more there’s always plenty of space.
