Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

Richer countries seem to have multi-billion dollar meat industries that some countries do not. If you are a person that lives in a rich country you will buy a lot of meat because a: you probably have the money and b: meat is just delicious. When you buy meat the meat industry has more money to raise more meat and then its just a never ending cycle. Eating more meat also means the demand is gonna get higher and when the demand gets higher our carbon footprint gets higher.
