Picking up litter in your community contributes to the cycle of giving and taking with the areas that provide for us. When we do the work to pick up litter, we start to feel responsible for a place, and in turn it gives us a greater sense of familiarity with it’s beauty, people, and community. And sometimes we end up visiting/taking advantage of these spaces more often and creating memories, all contributing to the cycle.

This morning I started my walk on some back streets and was pleasantly surprised there was no rubbish. On my way back took the main road and found all the things in the photo below😆

I realized I walk past a lot of trash on my walks, but never touch it. Hopefully this will jumpstart me to pick up as I can in the future!

How does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?

Connecting (virtually for now!) with people who I love and care about helps me process thoughts or stresses instead of internalizing them. Empathy from others, laughter, and sharing experiences keeps me feeling grateful for the lives we have no matter the situation. Here’s a photo of a zoom call I had with some friends over the weekend!
