Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Earth Day Together! Earth Day Action: Share Eco Tips
What environmentally friendly habit have you most recently implemented? How do you ensure that you are successful in creating or changing a habit?

Walking or running to a destination rather than using a car (benefits of not living in the middle of nowhere). A habit is created by doing that particular activity constantly so... everyday at around 8-9 in the morning, i go for a walk/run to a store, even if im not buying anything. I want to get used to this to reduce CO2 and daily exercise
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

We always carry "backup" reusable bags and put them in the trunk of the car just in case we forget the usual ones. If i were in that situation where theres none, i think carrying them in a cart would be the best option
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Climate Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! In what other ways can you exercise your civic duty to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions?

    Emmanuel Valencia's avatar
    Emmanuel Valencia 4/10/2020 6:08 PM
Not using so much electricity because of the fossil fuels needed to get it running
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Fresh Water Conserve Toilet Water
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Emmanuel Valencia's avatar
    Emmanuel Valencia 4/09/2020 9:25 AM
Not wasting it on water balloons or stupid youtube videos would be a start. Its easy to conserve water when stupidity isnt brought up
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

    Emmanuel Valencia 4/07/2020 10:17 PM
well... you dont buy something that will spoil soon if you dont intend on using it quickly and you save money if you buy something that will expire soon
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social Distancing
How does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?

humor tends to ease things and overall improve the mood of the people involved. Adding more people to the group chat can help others as well

    Forests Explore My Area
How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place?

    Emmanuel Valencia's avatar
    Emmanuel Valencia 4/06/2020 12:27 PM

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?

    Emmanuel Valencia's avatar
    Emmanuel Valencia 4/06/2020 11:09 AM
It brings people together while benefitting those in need. Neighboring cities come over to help out too which is nice because now it is not just the people nearby but others too.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife Research a Wild Animal
What interesting facts did you learn about the animal you researched? What are some of your favorite things about this animal?

I found out that the male robin sings better than the female and that they used to be killed for their meat. I see them all the time on the bird feeder in my backyard and I enjoy seeing them despite being such a common bird
