REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlife Research a Wild AnimalWhat interesting facts did you learn about the animal you researched? What are some of your favorite things about this animal?
Adina Weizman 4/30/2020 5:22 PMI learned a ton about Otter's habitats. Their dens are called a holt or a couch. After only one month, a pup can leave the holt and swim on its own. Otters live up 16 years. I love how naturally playful otters are, for example they often make water slides out of their surroundings and slide on them for fun. -

For example, I can utilize existing green space connections, plant native plants appropriately, use organic maintenance methods, provide wildlife connections between corridors and be mindful of non-native predators. -

Adina Weizman 4/22/2020 7:59 PMI have recently focused more on turning off the lights when I leave a room, composting and taking shorter showers. I ensure success by taking time every day to enjoy nature, by doing this I have become immensely grateful for our beautiful earth. This makes it easier to focus on changing harmful habits to ensure the protection of our planet. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Adina Weizman 4/16/2020 9:03 AMCountries with more affluence have greater access to meat products and therefore consumption is higher. The issue is that in terms of population, richer countries are often less populated than developing countries, leading to per capita consumption disparity. Eating meat increases the carbon footprint of each and every human being. Meat production, for example cattle production, releases greenhouse gasses into our atmosphere and destroys agricultural land. Also meat production leads to polluted runoff and compromised water sources. -

What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Adina Weizman 4/16/2020 8:57 AMIt makes me feel great to use a reusable mug instead of a disposable cup!! This has been relatively easy because of quarantine but it still feels great to make the conscious decision to reduce plastic and Styrofoam waste possibly being sent to the landfill. -

Adina Weizman 4/14/2020 6:16 AMI wasn't too difficult because the only food I frequently eat that leads to deforestation is coffee. I decided to stop drinking coffee and it has been hard but not impossible. I've been successful for almost all of quarantine and feel good about helping our forests. -

Adina Weizman 4/01/2020 6:16 PMMany reasons. Firstly, bees are vital to crop life, for example, it takes roughly 80,000 bees to pollinate an acre of almonds! They also help pollinate foods we eat everyday such as apples, melons and broccoli. Secondly, their yearly die-off rate is at about 40%, way over the healthy limit. Colony collapse happens frequently and it's hard to isolate the reason for these mass die-offs. Thirdly, beautiful monarch butterflies are at risk of continued die-off. Not only is Milkweed disappearing across the US, being the only plant they lay their eggs in, but recently, a devastating storm hit the monarch's overwintering grounds in Mexico.
