Action Track: Building Resilience
Connect While Social Distancing
I will connect with at least 2 person/people a day through phone call or video chat to support mine and other’s mental and emotional health during this challenging time.
Food
Compost Food Waste
I will avoid sending up to .69 lbs (.31 kg) of food waste to the landfill each day by composting my food or learning how to.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Amber Wiley 4/19/2020 9:55 PMThank you to my guy for his handyman skills in converting old pallets into a compost bin! Sorry Doom, no more yard snacks for you!! -
Amber Wiley 4/14/2020 6:28 PMI had a phone conversation with an office coworker, for the first time in weeks. Most work communication these days is either email or IM, which has been fairly adequate in “getting it done”. But what a beautiful thing to hear her voice and share a laugh, things I used to hardly notice or appreciate. -
Amber Wiley 4/13/2020 5:10 PMI’m tired of social distancing. That is all. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Amber Wiley 4/06/2020 9:16 PMSo far, I have designated a corner of my yard that was already full of leaves to be the spot that I toss all our food scraps daily. I’ll have to check out more of the resource links to determine what I’m going to do next. Even though we already don’t eat meat or dairy, I was surprised to learn that those items shouldn’t be composted.-
Amber Wiley 4/11/2020 10:06 AMAna, he totally is. It’s bad. I’ve got to close it in somehow. Levi has hinted at helping me.. -
Ana B 4/10/2020 3:28 PMIs Doom loving the "scrap pile?" -
Carmen Proffitt 4/07/2020 10:55 PMI've just been using Rogue Community Compost (https://rogueproduce.com/community-compost/) because I don't have a yard. They pick up my compost every week which makes it super easy. They'll take dairy products but no meat. I don't eat meat or dairy either, so works for me! If you're going to compost in your yard, I'd recommend some kind of container because animals love that stuff!

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Building Resilience Connect While Social DistancingHow does connecting with others help your own mental and emotional health? How can it help support others?
Amber Wiley 4/02/2020 8:59 PMI almost didn’t do this today. I’ve been staring at screens and on my phone so much lately. I just really didn’t want to do it. But I called my best friend, who I haven’t seen in weeks. We text daily, but hearing her voice, and trying to process this crazy madness, made me feel less crazy. Like, even through it all, with everything changing daily, there are still some constants. My relationships are the tethers keeping me together.-
Ana B 4/04/2020 3:35 PMAMBER!!! Welcome friend! I'm so glad you are trying this challenge on for size. Let's take a 6'-foot apart spin around the neighborhood and connect! -
Erin M 4/02/2020 10:39 PMAmber - thank you for this. I'm also on screens all the time. And tonight, I called my sister. She's a doc and just in the heart of it all. And it was so good to laugh and cry and connect and be there for one another. We're going to get through this, with our tethers. ❤
