Possible locations could be a vacant lot, a median strip, a public park, windowsill, rooftop, balcony, street tree pit etc... D O C U M E N T A T I O N > Take a series of three photos showing: 1) The garden location before you planted the seeds 2) A photo of the flower plants while they are growing, and 3) A photo of the plants after they have bloomed.

Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy CreditsYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Julia Wilson 4/21/2020 11:30 AMTo reduce my electricity usage I should get better at turning off the lights in rooms that I am not currently in. I should also get better at unplugging all of the electronics that I don't always use. Most of the light bulbs in my house have already been switched over to more energy efficient models. -
Julia Wilson 4/21/2020 11:23 AMEvery day at 7pm I cheer with the rest of my neighborhood to celebrate first responders. -
Julia Wilson 4/21/2020 11:22 AMToday is my cousin's birthday so we will connect with him through zoom. -
Julia Wilson 4/19/2020 3:56 PMToday we zoomed with my husband's entire family. They live in California and Prague. I guess one cool thing about staying at home right now is it's a global thing! We are all social distancing together. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONForests Use a Reusable MugMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Julia Wilson 4/18/2020 7:44 AMOne nice thing about staying at home is I'm sure we've all used WAY less to-go cups. But for the coffee shops that are still open you can no longer take your own mug. The coffee shop near my house sells bags of beans so I've been buying those to try to help support the store while making my coffee at home with little waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Compost Food WasteNew to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?
Julia Wilson 4/18/2020 7:43 AMI sadly won't use my compost- it gets picked up each week. But it's still nice to see all of the food waste staying out of my trash can! -
Julia Wilson 4/17/2020 7:40 AMLove my swell bottle, it keeps my water cold all day. Way better than a plastic bottle! -
